So, Football Manager, you’ve got me again.
Its taken a while, and I’ve been dealing with a lot of things, but, I’ve recently started a save which I hope will be a long term one.
My intention was to finish the season at my first club, then talk about the second season. I started at Wigan, with them having been relegated to League 1 at the end of the 18/19 season, and wanted to bring them back to the Championship.
Things were going really well, wholesale changes were made, and several youngsters came in on loan from Manchester United, with Tatith Chong and Axel Tuanzebe the stand outs. At the beginning of December, still unbeaten in the league, a job in a different division came up.
Jaap Stam had joined Forest as manager in January 2019, replacing Aitor Karanka, who went to Bilbao (sacked in January 2020), and had struggled, mainly through buying lots of players who weren’t up to the standard of the Championship.
Sitting 17th in the Championship, they were 4 points away from the relegation zone, and needed something.
I applied for the job, just to see if I would even get close to an interview.
I got offered the job.
So. NG2. Here I come.
